As temperatures drop and snow falls in unexpected places, it’s easy to feel a bit cooped up and even slightly down. I certainly felt that way! Every day this month, I couldn’t leave the house without being bundled up in at least 10lbs of winter gear. Nothing made me feel more like a overstuffed marshmallow than my huge trapper hat, warm insulated gloves, waterproof boots, and puffy quilted coat. It may not be the most stylish look, but it kept me warm and toasty as I waddled along in the winter weather!

On the grayest and chilliest of days, putting on all the layers felt like too much, so I cozied up at home and relied on DoorDash to restock my household. Eventually, I decided to turn these poo-poo feelings into something creative and made a fun self-portrait—a winter doodle! While it might not have physically warmed me up, it definitely warmed my heart and brought joy to everyone I shared it with.

I transformed my original image into a coloring page to continue spreading cheer and brightening everyone’s mood. I don’t mind offering this coloring page for FREE because the first version was just a picture of myself. And if someone is desperate enough to try to redistribute my likeness for profit—well, so be it.
I also realize not everyone wears glasses. So, I made another version without glasses. I affectionately called the pair “The Brr Buddies,” (which might already be taken by a real company; if so, sorry, just being cute.) Neither have an apparent gender, nor any hair poking out beneath their many layers, so feel free to unleash your imagination to make your buddy look just like you!
If it’s still chilly where you live, make the most of your coloring experience, warm up a hot beverage, a hot choccy, perhaps, and find a cozy spot to lay out your printout along with your favorite art supplies. Don’t stress about achieving perfection; focus on enjoying the process. Acknowledge any stinky feelings about the cold, and move past them by focusing on making your coloring page as unique as you are.
I’d love to see how you color your buddy when finished! Please share your completed pages with me on social media by tagging my Instagram page (@PennyPeanutButtter) or by using the hashtag I JUST created: #WinterBluesColoring. I may feature your artwork on my page!
If you enjoyed this blog, I’d love it if you read more of my writing; I am a regular blogger for ASDNext. If you love the coloring page, let me know. I’d be happy to explore the possibility of creating more! If you are feeling generous, you can always donate to my tip jar here!
Have a wonderful day (:
